Avelo Airlines planes parked at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport Aug. 16, 2022.Arnold Gold/Hearst Connecticut MediaNEW HAVEN — Fans can fly on Avelo Airlines' 'special bowl flights' to cheer on the University of Connecticut Huskies in South Carolina later this month, the company said. Flights between New Haven and Myrtle Beach normally are offered Thursdays and Sundays, but those sold out within hours after UConn's bowl announcement, according to airline spokesperson Jim Olson. 'These newly added flights will provide UConn fans with a convenient and affordable way to travel and cheer on the Huskies in the Myrtle Beach Bowl,' said David Benedict, UConn's director of athletics.
